The definition of wild is :

The Visitor's page will show a way for the public to view the wildlife and our nursery through pictures and articles and what we hope to accomplish each year.

WILDLIFE OF THE MONTH
Northern Flying Squirrel
The Flying is the only Nocturnal member of the Squirrel family in MN. They can see well at night. They do not fly but they glide, This is do to the large flap of skin attached to its front and hind legs and side of body. A flying squirrel will climb to a top of a tree and launch itself its flat tail adds some additional lift and acts like a rudder to help maneuver objects while gliding. Glides are as long as 50 feet. To create a air brake for a soft landing it will quickly lift its head and tuck its tail between its legs. The flying squirrel is the most carnivourous of the tree Squirrels, finding and eating small mice, bird eggs and baby birds. It is a Gregarious animal, with many individuals living in the same nest..
Young are born helpless, weaned at 5-7weeks. They live 2-5 years some have lived as long as 10 years in captivity...do not capture these as they do not make a good pet..
